Selection procedure for contributions

 BIOM intends to publish scientific articles according to a general objective of developing knowledge of the biodiversity of the French Massif central and its preservation by placing humans in the totality of natural systems. For this it privileges all or part of the following criteria:

  • Priority given to in-depth research approaches carried out by researchers or specialists trained or experienced in their area of naturalist competence;
  • Research on the geographic area of the French Massif central and possibly on ecosystems similar to other mountains, provided that they develop a comparative approach with this;
  • Priority given to research centered on observations or concrete results in the field concerning taxa, habitats, sites or territories;
  • Taking into account global anthropogenic changes affecting all or part of the ecosystems of the Massif central and their evolution;
  • Need to highlight the relevance of the observations / results / analyzes for concrete preservation / conservation / restoration actions. As such, reflective articles are also desirable on the condition of relying on case studies, data or meta-analysis.

To generate articles, the existing networks of national or international learned societies (botanical society of France, French society of phytosociology, French Society for the Study and Protection of Mammals, French Society of ecology and evolution, International Association of vegetation sciences ...) of universities and research and higher education organizations will be mobilized by calls for contributions or by direct requests from researchers.

The selection of articles will be made within the BIOM editorial committee or more broadly at the request of the Scientific Committee.

Privileged disciplines

The privileged disciplines are botany, zoology, ecology; faunistic, floristic or fungal taxonomy, syntaxonomy, phytosociology, bio-indication and bio-evaluation, conservation biology, paleobiodiversity as well as other disciplinary fields such as human and physical geography, pedology, ethnobotany and ethno-ecology, rural or environmental sociology, provided that they are centered on biodiversity and its preservation ... Study methods and technologies developing dynamic, spatiotemporal (dynamic and landscape phytosociology, plant successions, population dynamics, cartography, remote sensing, modeling, paleo-environment, etc.), or holistic approaches of biodiversity (multidisciplinary global approaches, systemic approaches by habitat or type of environment) are also sought. Studies and research on the conservation of ecotypes, domestic or wild local breeds are also relevant to the journal.
